Treatment Recommendations
If you have an ash tree within 15 miles of a confirmed find of emerald ash borer the US department of Agriculture, the South Dakota Department or Agriculture, and the Arboriculture Industry recommends you treat your high value ash trees. Deciding to treat your ash trees is a very important decision that shouldn’t be made quickly or lightly. The treatments must be made on a regular basis with precise dosing to protect trees. I have the necessary experience and knowledge to help you make the best decision for your landscape and to do the treatments effectively.  

Our Treatment Program
The direct injection into the trunk will last 2 years. Treatments are upwards of 99.9% effective at protecting ash trees from the beetle.

I exclusively use Rainbow Treecare Scientific products and equipment when caring for your trees. Their company and products are science based, well researched, and have been proven effective on a wide variety of pest and disease problems. For emerald ash borer (EAB), I will directly inject ArborMectin (4% Emamectin Benzoate) using either their specialized iQ Tree Infuser or Q Connect system. These systems do not use plastic plugs that are left in your tree. The iQ system uses a small computer to provide the exact amount of back pressure so the maximum amount of chemical gets taken up into the tree. Other systems out there use excessive pressure to force the chemical into the tree and uses plastic plugs that are left in the drilled holes. This can prevent wound closure and leaves more room for operator error when injecting.

Experience Matters
I have over 10 years experience injecting and treating trees and have been an arborist, caring for trees for over 15 years. I am the only ISA Board Certified Master Arborist (MW 4503B) doing tree treatments in the State of South Dakota and my only job is caring for the health of peoples trees and providing accurate science based information. Be cautious trusting the treatment of your ash tree to someone who doesn’t have the necessary experience with tree treatments or is jumping into this epidemic for the first time. A company that mows your lawn or does your landscaping likely doesn’t have the necessary experience to care for your trees effectively. The treatments are extremely effective, but if done incorrectly, they will not work and your tree will be at risk.
